Andile “Ace” Ncobo, General Manager of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and former FIFA referee, has recently faced multiple legal challenges. On May 5, 2025, Ncobo and his wife, Salomie Twaise Ncobo, appeared at the Bellville Magistrates Court facing three counts of fraud and money laundering. The charges relate to a R15 million donation from PetroSA intended for school construction projects in the Eastern Cape, specifically for Gangatha Junior Secondary School. An unregistered trust, allegedly set up to handle the funds, is at the center of the case[3][7].

The State alleges Ncobo and his wife embarked on a scheme to obtain the money from PetroSA’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme, using it for their own benefit and for entities in which they had a vested interest. Ncobo was responsible for overseeing the construction, which was completed between November 2008 and September 2009, though the school reportedly never officially appointed him as its representative or project manager[3][4].

After their court appearance, Ncobo was granted bail of R50,000 while his wife received bail of R30,000. Their case was postponed to May 29, 2025, for further investigation[4]. The issue has drawn significant media attention, with multiple outlets covering the ongoing investigation and the sums involved[1][7].

More recently, in July 2025, Ncobo was released on warning in an assault case and continues to face the aforementioned fraud charges over the R15 million CSI funds[5].

In the wake of these controversies, Ncobo, who is also well known for his work as a football analyst, reportedly resigned from his analyst position as well[8].
