Former FIFA referee and Premier Soccer League (PSL) general manager Andile “Ace” Ncobo was recently released on warning by the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court after appearing on assault charges reportedly laid against him by his partner. The alleged incident took place on June 28 in Kempton Park West, Ekurhuleni. Ncobo’s lawyer argued in court that his client provides for eight children and has a full-time job, highlighting that the complainant later withdrew the charges[1].
Despite the withdrawal of assault and gender-based violence charges by Ncobo’s partner, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed it will continue its investigation into the matter. The magistrate stated that, based on the affidavit and withdrawal statements provided by the victim, the court was satisfied that a warning release was appropriate while the NPA continues to probe the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal[3].
In addition to the assault case, Ncobo and his wife, Salome, are facing fraud and money laundering charges related to a R15 million Corporate Social Investment (CSI) fund. The charges allege that Ncobo and his wife obtained money from the Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (PetroSA), intended for school construction projects in the Eastern Cape, through fraudulent means for personal benefit. Both appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court in May 2025, where Ncobo was granted R50,000 bail and his wife R30,000 bail. Ncobo denied any wrongdoing, emphasizing that all contracted projects were completed satisfactorily. The case was postponed to May 29 for further proceedings[5][7].
