John Maduka

John Maduka has been appointed as the new head coach of Magesi FC ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season[1]. The 54-year-old Malawian takes over from Owen Da Gama, who parted ways with the club last week[1]. Maduka’s appointment comes after his previous stint at Royal AM, a club that was dissolved due to financial troubles and tax issues, leaving Maduka and his technical team briefly unemployed[1][2].

Magesi FC officially announced Maduka’s appointment on July 3, 2025, stating, “Magesi Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of John Maduka as the team’s new Head Coach. Maduka joins Dikwena Tša Meetse after a thorough search. The former Malawian international will start his new job with immediate effect”[1]. Maduka’s immediate challenge is to improve on last season’s 13th place finish and to defend the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup[1].

Maduka brings experience from managing clubs such as Bloemfontein Celtic, Maritzburg United, and Royal AM[2]. His return to the Premier Soccer League is seen as an opportunity for Magesi FC to build on recent successes and stabilize after several squad changes, including the departure of 10 players ahead of the new season[1].
