SASSA October 2025 Payment Dates Announced

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially confirmed the payment dates for all social grants for October 2025. Beneficiaries across South Africa can now plan accordingly, as the agency releases detailed updates on grant disbursements.

Official Payment Schedule

Old-Age and Disability Grants

Mark your calendars: the Old-Age Grant is set for disbursement on Thursday, 2 October 2025. This is swiftly followed by the Disability Grant, scheduled for Friday, 3 October 2025. Beneficiaries receiving these grants can expect to see the funds deposited directly into their accounts on the aforementioned dates.

Child Support and Other Grants

For those who benefit from Child Support and other grants, SASSA has allocated Monday, 6 October 2025 for these payments. The agency emphasizes that while these specific dates are set, funds will remain available until beneficiaries choose to withdraw them, encouraging them to avoid unnecessary rushes at paypoints.

SRD Grant Payments

The Special Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant payments follow a different timeline. Payments will be distributed between 21st and 31st October 2025, with beneficiaries receiving confirmation via SMS from SASSA once the funds are ready.

Increased Grant Amounts

Good news for all grant recipients: as of October 2025, there has been a modest increase in grant amounts. This adjustment sees an additional R10 added to most grants. SASSA provides the updated figures as follows:

  • Old-Age Grant: R2,320
  • Old-Age (over 75 years): R2,340
  • War Veterans Grant: R2,340
  • Disability Grant: R2,320
  • Care Dependency Grant: R2,320
  • Foster Care Grant: R1,250
  • Child Support Grant: R560
  • Grant-in-aid: R560

Continuing with SASSA Cards and Banking Options

Even though Postbank’s contract with SASSA ended on 30 September 2025, beneficiaries can keep using their existing SASSA cards at both ATMs and retail points. Additionally, SASSA welcomes the opening of accounts at any bank of the beneficiary’s choice to ensure continued access to funds.

New Biometric Security Measures

From 1 September 2025, new grant applications mandate biometric enrollment, including fingerprints and facial recognition, as a security measure to combat fraud. SASSA’s initiative aims to enhance the safety of beneficiary information and grant distribution.
