SASSA Dates for October 2025: Social Grant Payment Schedule Announced

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the social grant payment dates for October 2025, ensuring beneficiaries receive their funds promptly. In keeping with tradition and transparency, SASSA has laid out a detailed schedule for Old Age, Disability, and other grants, along with updates to the grant amounts.

Scheduled Payment Dates for October 2025

For those relying on the Old Age Grant, payments will be made on Thursday, 2 October 2025. Beneficiaries of the Disability Grant can expect their funds on Friday, 3 October 2025. Meanwhile, the Child Support Grant, along with other grants such as Care Dependency, Foster Child, Grant-In-Aid, War Veterans, and Social Relief of Distress, will be disbursed on Monday, 6 October 2025.

Increment in Grant Amounts

Beginning this October, most social grants will see a modest R10 increase. This adjustment will bring the Old Age and Disability grants to R2,320, while those for individuals over 75 years old and War Veterans will receive R2,340. Care Dependency grants will also stand at R2,320, and the Foster Care grant will rise to R1,250. The Child Support Grant and Grant-In-Aid will now be R560, though the Social Relief of Distress Grant remains unchanged at R360, as reported by The Citizen.

Assurances from SASSA amid Changes with Postbank

SASSA CEO Themba Matlou reassures beneficiaries that the termination of the Master Services Agreement with Postbank will not impact the distribution of grant payments. While beneficiaries holding Postbank accounts may continue receiving their grants, they also have the option to switch to other financial institutions if they so desire. The priority for SASSA remains that all eligible recipients receive their grants without any disruptions.

Payment Collection Guidelines

Beneficiaries are reminded that payments are not processed on weekends or public holidays.
