Former ANC Member of Parliament Boy Mamabolo has resigned from the party after 29 years, citing what he described as ongoing abuse, ill-treatment, and internal sabotage[1][2][3]. The resignation was made public through an emotional email sent on Monday evening to the ANC’s provincial secretary, which was also copied to key party officials.
Mamabolo stated that his decision was driven by several factors, including his “unlawful removal from Parliament” and a legal bill of over R300,000 that he incurred as a result of taking the ANC to court–charges he claims were unfairly assigned to him[1][3]. He accused the party of blocking his attempt to register a new political party named “Mandela For President (MFP)”, a process that was reportedly rejected by the Electoral Commission of SA due to violations, including concerns that the name might mislead voters by implying a connection to Nelson Mandela[1][3][6].
In his resignation statement, Mamabolo described the ANC as having become “abusive” and used strong language, stating, “the ANC has been turned into a pig that is eating its own children”[3][7]. He also confirmed that he will continue to pursue the registration of his political movement. Recent reports suggest he will now focus on establishing a new party called “Born To Win,” which he claims will target supporters of both the ANC and the Economic Freedom Fighters[8].
