Galatasaray has started the 2025–26 season with several major developments, both on and off the pitch.[1]
The club’s kit for the season, manufactured by Puma, was launched on 26 June 2025. This season marks the first since 2011–12 without long-standing goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, whose contract expired. Notably, Leroy Sané joined Galatasaray from Bayern Munich on 12 June with a contract running until 2028. Victor Osimhen signed from Napoli on 31 July for a transfer fee of €75 million, breaking the Turkish football transfer record.[1][4]
In the transfer market, Galatasaray has also been negotiating for Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika. The Nigerian player has agreed personal terms, and Galatasaray is pursuing a loan option with a mandatory purchase clause, though Club Brugge is reportedly demanding €25 million. Onyedika’s transfer saga intensified after failed negotiations for Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma.[2][7][8]
On 28 August, Galatasaray officially announced the signing of Ivorian international defender Wilfried Singo from AS Monaco on a five-year contract running until 2030.[6]
On the field, Galatasaray has had a strong league start, defeating Kayserispor 4-0 in their most recent Süper Lig match on 24 August 2025. Eren Elmali scored twice, while Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sané added to the tally. Key players like Mauro Icardi and Nicolò Zaniolo featured prominently, helping the team remain top of the Turkish league.[3]
Beyond player transfers, Galatasaray recently signed a significant sponsorship deal with Pasifik Holding, valued at $10 million, for domestic matches in 2025–26.[1]
In the Champions League, Galatasaray’s league stage opponents for the 2025–26 season were announced on 28 August, signaling another exciting year in European competition.[1]
Off the pitch, Galatasaray has a notable contractual clause with Benfica regarding the future of former player Kerem Akturkoglu. If Benfica intends to transfer Akturkoglu to a third club, Galatasaray holds a five-day right of reply to match any offer, a standard pre-emption clause recognized by FIFA.[5]
